Mr Burleson, you either know what you are talking about, but are intentionally speaking in very general terms about the actual enormous “complexity” of the life that has “evolved” and you are therefore being disingenuous (since we, the peasantry cannot possibly understand such things), or, you are in reality very ignorant of such things as the sheer incredible scale of the “complexity” of even the most “simple” single-celled organisms. The real problem here is that the you must have, in fact, a religion (belief system) of your own, which is likely the belief that there is no God, and therefore the belief that “evolution” created everything in our universe (BTW, universe = “One Verse”; you know, …In the beginning God created… and said, ‘Let there be…’)Now, I beg to differ with you, sir, as the Bible DOES, in fact, mention that the earth is round, found in Isaiah 40:22, written thousands of years ago, yes, translated into English, of course… – Quote: “He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in.” (NIV) [and for the purists out there, in the King James Version,] “It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in.” How much credibility do you have in your argument, when you obviously don’t know the subject matter you, yourself, brought forth? Oh, no, I don’t have any “formal” training as a scientist, nor as a theologian, but why should you doubt someone’s knowledge of a given subject? I fly airplanes for a living… SO WHAT! Bernoulli’s law is not the only extent of my knowledge, Mr. Burleson, and you should not knock the knowledge of Mr. Goebel either, since you likely haven’t known him all his lifetime, nor what exactly he knows, and doesn’t know. Just because science is not his profession doesn’t mean he knows nothing about the subject. Further, I quote Mr. Burleson: “…none of the evidence actually points to such explanations as being the right ones.” And what “evidence” sir, do you have for the very basics of your belief system (that everything happened out of nothing, by itself, over time…. )? I submit that you cannot “prove” the underpinnings of the “theory” of evolution any more than I can “prove” that God exists. The reason is very, very simple, but you are going to ridicule me for saying it; neither one of us can absolutely PROVE the very basic ASSUMPTIONS of our belief systems. My ASSUMPTION is that there is a God. YOUR ASSUMPTION is that there is NO God, therefore there must be some other explanation for how everything exists. Furthermore, YOUR view is that science is in direct conflict with the Biblical record of history. MY view is that the Bible will be proved to be correct in all it’s statements when they are taken in the correct context in which they were written, (which is, I have to admit, is often difficult and contentious to discern), AND when the so-called “scientific community” would stop kicking out anyone from their ranks who would utter the word “God” or “Designer”. Don’t you see how the scientific community “cleans their house” of any ideas promulgated by someone who would possibly believe in anything other than the “Theory” of evolution? Science, as generally practiced today, is based on a religious assumption that you have to be an Atheist to be a “true” scientist. Don’t you get it? YOU ARE BLINDED BY YOUR RELIGIOUS BELIEFS, JUST AS YOU WOULD ACCUSE ME OF BEING SO BLINDED BY MINE, I am sure. “True” Science, sir? True Science … MY A$$ !
